What is the physical process called "The Menstrual Cycles"?

"Regular" monthly period includes two different processes, interchanging like the pedestrian traffic lights. It is a long chain composed of two opposite states, green and red. The green light marks the ovulation process towards fertilization, and the red light marks a process of miscarriage due to no-fertilization. The inner signaling working in women's bodies indicates great physical distress, that is getting worse every month. Thus for example, a woman avoiding pregnancy has about a hundred and twenty menstrual cycles in a period of ten years. This is the so called "natural" pace of about a dozen monthly periods during one year. In such a period of time a woman is going through a succession of two very complex and very different processes. Hundred and twenty ovulations, hundred and twenty miscarriages; the menstrual bleeding is a kind of natural miscarriage, occurring because there is no ovum fertilization; hence no pregnancy develops in the uterus.
American studies dealt with the physical phenomena of menstruation. The researchers concluded that: "The risk of getting ovarian cancer is directly related to the number of ovulations a woman has during her life. A high number of ovulations increase by nine the risk for a genetic mutation in the ovarian cells, a mutation that often develops into cancer. Studies found a statistical relation between the number of ovulations and ovarian cancer. Researchers estimate that a high number of ovulations increase the risk for mutation in P-53 gene. According to these researchers, any factor that reduces ovum maturation reduces the risk for ovarian cancer. Thus for example, a birth of a baby reduces the risk for ovarian cancer for the mother by thirteen percent. Using the Pill for one year reduces the risk for ovarian cancer by ten percent." This is a quotation from a press release published by the NCI, the National Cancer Institute in 3.7.1997.
This statistics can be understood if we compare our way of living today with our way of life in ancient times. To make this comparison we will be assisted by the women in an east-African tribe of "hunters and collectors". The women of the "Kong-San" tribe get pregnant only once in a period of three to five years. The reason for their low fertility is: Kong women nurse their babies as their major nutrition. The baby suckling from his mother's breasts stops the mother's reproductive system (stops the ovulations) until the baby is weaned. 1
If we compare the Kong motherhood, lasting a few years (due to breastfeeding) to our way of living today, we can see major differences in behavior. This is a critical issue, important for understanding the physical damage caused by the continuous menstrual cycles.

An example for different behavior, causing physical damage, is the big difference in the ovarian activity. We know that a woman's ovaries work alternately, that is, only one of them is active in each ovulation cycle. If we add the data we've collected from the hunters-collectors to this fact, we will realize that the natural ovulation rate in each ovary is once in a few years. Ovulation occurs in the beginning of the motherhood stage and the ovary rests for a period of three to eight years. On the other hand, in our new reality that is considered normal and healthy, most women have a monthly succession of infertile ovulations until they reach menopause. Today we know what damage is caused to the ovary as a result of the menstrual cycle, but it is considered by us as a kind of natural wearout. It is a common assumption that four to five hundred infertile ovulations put an end to the fertility potential. It turns out that the belief that menstrual bleeding is healthy and is caused by a "natural" physical need of women for a bleeding every month is a false and harmful belief. It originates from our tendency to give medical meaning to the ancient religious myths. This belief interferes with the natural growth process of women and women's health is damaged due to the menstrual succession they have to experience since they reach sexual maturity. There are a number of harmful physical phenomena considered natural nowadays, deriving from the arrival of the menstrual cycle in girls. Two major phenomena are: stopping to grow taller, and unnecessary growth of the milk producing cells in the breasts. It is not for nothing that the breasts represent the female fertility. They swell up to sizes that justify using a bra to support their heavy weight. This phenomenon is unique only to women. All the females of other primates have much smaller breasts.

The growth of women's breast is caused by the repeated activity of the hormone "estrogen" secreted in the ovary in each menstrual cycle. In the following chapter we shall try to clarify another critical matter, regarding estrogen and the breast tissue, in which we shall examine the reasons for the outbreak of breast cancer. In the last decades this type of cancer has become an epidemic in the western world.
